It is important to read all the instructions contained in the manual, together with those contained in the engine and alternator manuals. These instructions will ensure that the generating set you have purchased will give you satisfactory operation for a long time.
The following points should be noted:
1. Where to fill or check the water level. 2. Where to fill or check the lubricating oil level. 3. Where to fill or check the fuel oil level. 4. Ensure that the fuel is turned on and the fuel system has been bled. 5. Drain the water out of the separator (if the engine is fitted with one). 6. Ensure that the battery has been correctly filled to the levels required, as they are normally shipped in a dry condition. 7. Prior to starting, check the engine for visible leaks and damage. 8. Prior to starting, check the batteries for visible leaks and damage. 9. Prior to starting, check the radiator for visible leaks and damage. 10. Prior to starting, check the control panel for any damage. 11. Check that the 13 amp supply to the battery charger and water heater are connected. 12. Prior to starting, check the fuel tank has been filled.
After you are sure that the engine is in a satisfactory condition, start the engine by means of the key start, start push-button or duty selector switch.
Do not load the engine immediately, but check for any possible leaks or hidden damage which may have occurred during transport.
After you are satisfied that the engine is running correctly, you may load the engine and run in accordance with the engine operator’s instructions. Is the generator on LEVEL hard standing?
Get acquainted with either the manual start or automatic mains fail panel (referred to as the AMF or ATS panel).
