A low battery warning on a UPS generally means that the batteries need changing. Unless there has been a power cut and its just the fact that the batteries have been discharged to maintain the load (in which case the batteries should recharge once the mains power is restored), the low battery warning indicates that the battery voltage has reached a preset low level. Modern UPS carry out regular battery tests so its possible to find out that the batteries need changing before its too late (i.e. during a power cut).
